Carolyn Smith
I’ve been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over 20 years. I particularly enjoy working with local and growing businesses, especially in construction, real estate, and professional services. I enjoy knowing my clients’ business, leveraging my years in tax and financial reporting, and providing practical solutions to clients’ business concerns.
A graduate of Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, I worked in public accounting and the construction industry for several years. Over the last 15 years my practice has grown by referrals only. I selectively work with clients with whom I can provide an ROI of at least 200% and make a positive difference.
When away from my desk, I enjoy most things outdoors - running, cycling, golfing, and hiking with my husband!
Nancy Clausen
I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), specializing in tax for individuals and small businesses. A graduate of Milligan University, I have been working in the accounting industry on a part-time, seasonal basis for over 25 years, while simultaneously raising and homeschooling my four children. I joined CJ Smith CPA in the fall of 2019 and have enjoyed working with our clients to help them achieve their business and financial goals.
In my free time, I teach Business Accounting at Apprentice University and volunteer in my church and community. I love spending time with my husband and family and enjoy reading, walking, hiking, camping, and snuggling my grandson.
Nate Smith
With an educational background in Information Technology and Business Management, I’ve worked in a variety of for-profit and non-profit organizations. For the past 25 years I’ve come alongside organizations to help develop robust and efficient business processes, leveraging proven technologies and innovative software solutions. I’m now applying those skills and experiences as Operations Manager at CJ Smith CPA. In this role I wear many hats…all aimed at helping our business function efficiently to serve our clients well.
When I’m not working, I enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, fishing and boating. I also volunteer at our church and within the Pike school community.
Amy Kravitz
With a focus in information technology, I have a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Binghamton and a Master’s degree from Iona College. For many years I served as the local area network administrator for a data processing center serving financial institutions. In 2015, I embarked on a career change and became involved in the accounting profession. I joined a small accounting practice where I performed bookkeeping services and tax return preparation. In August 2022, I joined CJ Smith CPA and am happy to continue to use my business, accounting and tax preparation skills.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, children, grandson, family and friends. I am an avid cruiser and a huge Yankees fan. I also enjoy reading and dining out.
Laura Zigler
I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a degree in Psychology and Social Work. Funny enough, working in that field eventually led me into the world of finance and I never looked back! I operated my own bookkeeping and payroll business for about 12 years. During that time I met Carolyn, who was the CPA for many of my clients. Three years ago I decided to go back to the corporate world and joined the finance department at a craft brewery in Portland, ME. At that time Carolyn invited me to be a Payroll Specialist at her firm and I was thrilled to join the team!
I live in Portland, ME, with my husband, two teenage daughters, and two dogs. I love going to the ocean, running, reading and watching football!
